Rangers winger Jamie Murphy has now returned to Ibrox after his loan spell at English League One side Burton Albion ended last month.
With the 30-year-old still having a year to run on his contract with the Bears, supporters on Twitter have been discussing whether he should be afforded another chance by manager Steven Gerrard:
Think his best days are behind him. Hope I wrong

Skillful enough to unlock SPFL defences and a better option than Jordan Jones for sure.

Murphy is not good enough for Rangers. We have moved on significantly since he was in the team.

I like Jamie think he offers good cover on the wings and he did have a horrendous injury to get back from

Good squad player imo

Don’t know what his Rangers future is but I can’t help wanting to see him play for us again.

Need to give this lad a chance. He’s a threat

Hope he gets a chance. But don’t think he will. Can see him going back to England.

Murphy got the game time he needed at Burton after recovering from a serious knee injury. The winger made a great impression as well, having scored seven goals and contributed two assists in 10 appearances during his time with the Brewers.
Whether that sort of form could translate back into the Scottish Premiership, though, it remains to be seen. The likes of Jordan Jones, Sheyi Ojo and Brandon Barker have not particularly impressed since arriving last summer so there could be an opportunity for Murphy to get his feet back under the table.
With the Gers now back in training, the midfielder will be keen to show the coaching staff that he can still offer a great deal.
