Ex-Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam does not think Alfredo Morelos will leave Ibrox before the transfer window closes next month.

Reports in the Scottish media have suggested that Lille will make one final bid of £18m in the coming weeks after a long drawn out pursuit of the 24-year-old, but Adam doesn’t expect the striker to be sold:

“I like Morelos, I think he’s a good player. He’s a disaster waiting to happen at times, but he scores goals, and I don’t know how Rangers would replace his goals if they want to go and win the league. The way it is, I think he’ll stay. They need another midfielder and I think they are trying to get another striker through the door as well. There are one or two players that Rangers need, but it’s going to be a tough, tough season.”

Much will depend on whether Lille actually make another formal offer for Morelos. It was confirmed earlier this summer that the Gers turned down one bid from the Ligue One side. However, things have gone quiet since then.

The uncertainty over his future has certainly affected the Colombian’s form somewhat, but he has still scored five goals in his first seven games of the season, and he would be a big miss if he were to move to France.

Morelos could play a key role in securing title number 55 if he remains at Rangers but his future remains up in the air.
