Peterborough Director of Football Barry Fry has confirmed that the English Championship club have yet to receive any offers for forward Siriki Dembele.

The 24-year-old has been linked with the likes of Rangers, Celtic, Newcastle, Sheffield United, West Brom and Fulham, but Fry thinks that Dembele could well start the season with the Posh, despite the player angling for a move away from London Road:

“It’s been quiet as far as bids are concerned. And it could be that Siriki starts the season with us. If he does he would best advised to play his heart out for Posh as the transfer window remains open until September 7 and that gives him a month to impress someone.”

Dembele, who scored 12 goals last season, has one year remaining on his contract with Peterborough and, despite being offered improved terms to extend his stay, it appears he is determined to leave this summer.

Whether Rangers are actively looking to sign the Englishman, it is unlikely. Fry revealed that the Light Blues made two scouting trips to watch Dembele in action last year, but a lot has changed since then.

Fashion Sakala has been snapped up on a free transfer, while Jermain Defoe has extended his contract for another season. With Alfredo Morelos unlikely to be leaving Ibrox any time soon either, there isn’t really any room in the squad for another forward.
