BT Sport pundit Peter Crouch says he wouldn’t rule out Rangers going “deep” into the knockout stages of the Europa League this season, along with other British teams.

The Light Blues have progressed to the last 16 of the competition but they now face a Slavia Prague side who knocked out Leicester in the last round and Crouch thinks Steven Gerrard’s side will need to be wary of the threat they will pose:

“The Europa League looks more winnable for our [English] teams and I wouldn’t discount Steven Gerrard taking Rangers deep into the competition, either – but, again, don’t get carried away. I was very impressed by Slavia Prague, who looked a proper team in beating Leicester. There is quality everywhere.”

It’s nice to see the Gers getting the respect they deserve from pundits south of the border but, as Crouch points out, the Scottish club have now reached the stage of the tournament where there are no easy games.

Some supporters would have been pleased being drawn against Slavia, considering they could have got the likes of Manchester United, AC Milan or Arsenal, but the Czech club should not be taken lightly. The two legs are expected to be tight affairs with the teams pretty well matched.
