Peterborough Director of Football Barry Fry says no clubs have made a formal approach for striker Siriki Dembele this summer.

Rangers, Celtic, Newcastle, Sheffield United, West Brom, Bournemouth, Stoke and Fulham have all been mentioned as potential suitors in recent months, but Fry says the forward’s agent has been trying to encourage bids for the player without success:

“I suspect that’s his agent trying to drum up interest. I’ve heard nothing from any of those clubs. Fulham have been interested in Siriki for a while, but I’ve had no contact from them recently.”

The Posh are said to be demanding around £3m for Dembele, who was scouted on a number of occasions by the Gers last season, but circumstances have changed since then.

Fashion Sakala was snapped up on a free transfer earlier this summer, while the prospect of Alfredo Morelos leaving Ibrox has diminished, with interest from Porto yet to lead to a concrete bid.

Dembele was probably being looked at as a potential backup option, but the Light Blues may still be keeping an eye on the player. The 24-year-old is playing in the English Championship this season so it will be interesting to see how he performs.
