Brighton will make a bid for Rangers captain James Tavernier this summer, according to 90min.com. The website claims the Seagulls are planning to sign the 28-year-old, along with his young brother, Marcus, who is currently plying his trade at Middlesbrough.
So keen are the English club to sign the pair that they will be making offers no matter what division they are playing in next season. Graham Potter’s side are currently just two points off the drop zone heading into the final nine fixtures of the season.
The Gers are not under pressure to sell Tavernier with the fullback still having just over two years remaining on his contract but there has been growing dissatisfaction with the skipper’s performances this season.
Despite bagging 15 assists, defensive lapses and penalty misses have meant it has been a turbulent campaign for the player. Whether it will lead to manager Steven Gerrard deciding to sell up, we shall have to wait and see.
