Galatasaray director Abrurrahim Albayrak has contacted Rangers to make an enquiry about Joe Aribo, according to reports in the Turkish media.

The Super Lig club have been scouting the Nigerian international and they are said to be keen on signing the midfielder as they look to strengthen their squad for next season.

Aribo has had a good second campaign with the Light Blues, having scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 42 appearances.

It led manager Steven Gerrard to describe the 24-year-old as “one of the best players in the league” back in January, and the Gers are likely to be reluctant to allow the Nigerian to leave.

In terms of Champions League football, Galatasaray will be in the qualifying rounds, much like Rangers, so unless he is attracted by the wages that the Turkish club can offer, there seems to be no real reason why Aribo would be interested in the move.
