Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has vowed to never add to the speculation linking him with the manager’s job at Liverpool.

Due to his extremely close connection with the Merseyside club, there is ongoing talk about the 41-year-old replacing Jurgen Klopp when the German eventually steps away from the hot seat.

When asked about that link to Liverpool, Gerrard said he will always try to focus on the job at hand with Rangers; a position he says he is extremely privileged to have:

“I can’t control any media speculation about my position. I don’t welcome it, I don’t add to it. All I do is focus on the job I have here and I’m very flattered and grateful for the position. I’m very happy here. I’ve said it on numerous occasions, it’s a huge club, I’m settled, I’m happy and I can continue to develop and keep trying to push this team forward.”

Every Gers supporter is aware that Gerrard does have the desire to manage Liverpool one day but it isn’t something they believe will be in the forefront of his mind.

Not only is the Scouser concentrated on the job at Ibrox, helping to win back to back Scottish Premiership titles, he is also on record as saying that he hopes Klopp stays with the Reds for many more years to come, as it would indicate that the German has continued to bring success to his former team.
