Respected France football expert Adam White has claimed that there may be something in the reports coming out of Spain that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Xavi Simons could make the switch to Rangers.

The 18-year-old is believed to be unhappy about his lack of game time at PSG and, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, there is an increasing possibility that he will leave the Parc des Princes. White suggests that Ibrox might be his next destination:

“Would he go to Rangers? In theory, I think that I could see that happening and I could see him wanting to go. But I think it’s one of those things that’s perhaps still in the very early stages if it is happening at all.”

There was a mixed reaction to the comments among supporters on Twitter, with some hopeful about Simons joining the Scottish champions, while others were not as convinced:

Considering that Simons is Dutch, the fact that the likes of manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his backroom staff Roy Makaay, Dave Vos and Arno Philips are all from the same country could prove to be an influential factor. At this stage, though, any talk about a move to Rangers is pure speculation.
