During his time at Easter Road, the 23-year-old made eight appearances, scoring three goals and providing five assists. It has prompted a discussion on Twitter with many supporters believing he deserves another chance under Steven Gerrard:
Give him a chance

My opinion to me he is better than Kamara.
But, don’t think Gerrard agrees.

Like to see the lad get his chance but Gerrard can’t chance anyone he has to get it right.

100% deserves a chance for me, I think with a run of games and confidence he could be a valuable player for us….

To be fair to Docherty, he couldn’t have done much more on loan to make an impression. He was instrumental as Hibs made it through to the Scottish Cup semi-final, with goals and assists in the wins against BSC Glasgow and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
He was less prolific in the league, but he did score an important opener in the 2-1 win over Kilmarnock back in February, as well as creating Christian Doidge’s goal in the 1-1 draw against Livingston a week later.
However, Gerrard already has a number of midfielders at his disposal, including Joe Aribo, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara so the prospects for Docherty don’t look particularly great.
