Sparta Rotterdam technical director Henk van Stee has said that the Eredivisie side have not received any formal bids for midfielder Abdou Harroui this summer.

Rangers, Brighton, Leeds, Galatasaray and Lille are all believed to be interested in the 23-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of next season, but van Stee says he’s only had contact from third party agents so far:

“I do get lots of calls from intermediaries who say they are acting on behalf of clubs, but that is different from actual concrete interest. There is no offer yet. In fact, so far no club has come forward for Harroui.”

Harroui is said to be available for around £2m, which is not a big fee considering he was a regular in the Netherlands side that reached the semi-finals of the European Under 21 Championships back in June.

Whether Gers boss Steven Gerrard is after another midfielder, following the signing of John Lundstram, it is up for debate. Harroui is a different type of player to the former Sheffield United player. The Dutchman is more of a playmaker, having scored six goals and provided three assists in 32 league appearances for Sparta Rotterdam last campaign.
