Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos has revealed that he has exchanged messages with Steven Gerrard.

The Colombian international has often expressed an interest in moving to England and, with Gerrard now managing Aston Villa, there is an obvious connection there. Even so, Morelos says he hasn’t discussed a potential transfer with his former manager:

“Scottish football is very similar to the English Premier League. I would imagine we get watched by clubs there and of course, we are doing well in the Europa League so we get a lot of exposure. Our ex-manager Steven Gerrard went to the Premier League. I have spoken to him since, just the usual greetings and things. We’ve not had any further conversations.”

Morelos clearly feels he is putting himself in the shop window with his performances for the Gers. However, the only clubs that have been linked with the 25-year-old in recent months are Russian club Zenit St Petersburg and Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce.

Director of Football Ross Wilson has promised Morelos that he will be sold if an appropriate bid comes in for him, but it has also been claimed that Rangers are demanding around €25m (£20.6m).  If that is the case, then it is understandable why some teams have been scared off by the price tag.
