Gorica left-back Marijan Cabraja has confirmed that Rangers are interested in signing him. The 23-year-old says he has been contacted by the Light Blues but he thinks that a move to Ibrox will only happen if Borna Barisic leaves first:

“It is true that Rangers are following me, contact has been established but it all depends on how the situation with Borna Barisic develops. I don’t believe that the Scots will pay as much as Gorica are asking for, but let’s leave that aside now, the only thing that matters to me is how we will play in Split on Sunday.”

The former Croatian Under 21 international came through Dinamo Zagreb’s youth academy and moved to Gorica on a free transfer in the summer of 2018. Since then, he has gone on to make 73 appearances, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.

Cabraja’s agent has also revealed there is interest in the fullback, saying offers from Italy and Poland have already been rejected, while he also expects approaches from clubs in the US and Russia during the January transfer window.

Manager Steven Gerrard has stated that key players won’t be sold next month so there is a strong possibility that Cabraja could leave Gorica before Rangers sell Barisic, so supporters probably shouldn’t expect the defender to make the switch to Scotland.
