Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor had another match to forget as the Bears squandered a two-goal lead against Motherwell yesterday afternoon.
The 40-year-old should have prevented Jordan Roberts from getting the ball for the first goal, and he was beaten way too easily at his near post for Kaiyne Woolery’s equaliser.
It isn’t the first time this season that McGregor has had a poor game and many fans on Twitter believe the Gers veteran’s time as the club’s number one may have come to an end:
It seems like he is costing us every week. Why was the cross for 1st gosl not cut out by him, it was easily within his reach, that was the game changing moment, from then you just sensed trouble. IMHO both Sakala and especially Arfield should have been off after an hour.

People all over the manager after that. But, this is completely on the players. McGregor is finished. Lucky to be in the team after the Dundee United goal last week imo. In modern football you can’t carry a keeper who will not come off his line.

Mcgregor never comes off his line. Ever. 1st goal that’s his ball all day, second goal I’m not sure if there’s a slight deflection on the shot but he still needs to save that at his near post, basically flicked his leg forwards instead of to the side the ball actually went.

He’s not done anything but cost us points since the restart and he wasn’t firing on all cylinders prior to it. If mcrorie was our No2 I could get it but McLaughlin has never let us down. It’s like the Alexander/mcgregor dynamic of 07/08

McGregor breeds so much panic at the back. It used to be tolerated on account of his shot stopping but lately even that has been discarded and we are shipping a goal a game which the GK could prevent.

McLaughlin has to start against st Johnstone

McGregor has directly cost us 8 points this season from errors leading to goals. Anyone who says it evens itself out is talking nonsense.

He should be no 3 behind McLaughlin and McCrorie now. Hes been a wonderful keeper but history doesn’t mean you keep the jersey forever.

McGregor’s form has been erratic, rather than outright terrible, this campaign but it does feel he costs Rangers more points than he wins at the moment.
Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst really can’t afford to have a key player like McGregor out of form, considering how close the title race is. The Dutchman may need to make a decision about taking his first-choice keeper out of the firing line.
