Leeds are not prioritising a move for Rangers winger Ryan Kent, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Reports south of the border have suggested that the English Premier League side have been keeping tabs on Kent, but Jones says that Jesse Marsch’s side are more interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg’s Brenden Aaronson instead:
“Brenden Aaronson is [still high up in Leeds’ summer plans], so I think that one is still more likely [than Kent].”
Kent’s future beyond the end of the season is very much up in the air. The former Liverpool player’s contract at Ibrox expires in 2023 but there have been no reports that an extension is in the works.
Director of Football Ross Wilson will be keen to ensure that Kent doesn’t leave the club for nothing. The 25-year-old reportedly has a £20m release clause but, if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new deal, they may have to offload him for a lower price. At this point, though, it doesn’t seem like he will be moving to Leeds.
