Rangers captain James Tavernier provided two assists as the Light Blues got their league title defence off to a strong start with a 3-0 win over Livingston.
The 29-year-old delivered a cross for Ianis Hagi to score the opener eight minutes into the game, while he also made the final pass before Scott Wright put the home side 2-0 up.
When asked how many goals Tavernier will set up this season, fans on Twitter made some wild predictions as well as praising the fullback’s performance:
The captain leading brilliantly again I’m going for 56 lol

2 assists and that’s a fairly quiet / average game for the skipper.
Proper leader, propper grafter, proper bluenose. Proud to have him lead our club ???

Tavernier seems to always come up with the goods, even if he wasn’t completely at the top of his game at Ibrox yesterday afternoon.
His display demonstrated why manager Steven Gerrard trusts him so implicitly, despite there being some pressure to start Nathan Patterson, who has been impressive during pre-season.
With so many games to play domestically and in Europe, we will certainly see Tavernier rotated at times, but there’s no doubt he will be in the starting lineup for the biggest matches.
