Wales manager Robert Page has confirmed that Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey is “struggling” with a hamstring injury.

The 31-year-old picked up the issue in the 2-1 World Cup playoff win over Austria on Thursday evening but he still completed the ninety minutes. Gareth Bale also sustained a groin problem in the same match, and when asked whether either player would feature in the friendly against Czech Republic tomorrow night, Page replied:

“They both struggled towards the end of the game. You could see both of them were holding their groins and hamstrings. They both had a tough 95 minutes. We’ll have another night tonight and we’ll make that decision in the morning whether we involve them in the 23. They’re not going to start, so it’s whether they’re in the 23.”

Considering Ramsey’s poor injury record, it is not a complete surprise. He has started two matches in the space of four days, which isn’t something the Welshman has done for quite a while.

The main concern now will be whether he will be able to recover in time for the Old Firm derby this weekend. Considering how the former Arsenal player has struggled with his fitness levels since arriving at Ibrox back in January, it doesn’t look at all promising.
