Rangers are planning to strengthen their squad in the summer as they look to build on this season’s title win, according to assistant manager Michael Beale.

There was an expectation that the Light Blues would have to balance the books due to the financial impact of the global health crisis but Beale says the intention is to take the team to the next level and start a period of dominance:

“Winning the league was just the start. It wasn’t the endpoint, it was just the start of us going on a dominant run. That’s what the staff are committed to and that’s what we are challenging and provoking the players to push on to.”

“And that’s what we will be looking at when we go to add to the squad in the summer, which I’m sure we will, to take us to the next level. To reiterate, it’s just the start.”

It certainly sounds like manager Steven Gerrard has ambitious plans for the future, but whether that will be borne out in the transfer market, we shall have to wait and see.

The Gers brought in a couple of players in January, Jack Simpson and Scott Wright, and there is another signing already slated for the summer in Nnamdi Ofoborh.

However, it was believed that at least one major sale would be needed in order to compensate for losses from both spending in past transfer windows and the lack of matchday revenue.

From Beale’s comments, though, it seems that the club will be looking to build on what they have, rather than breaking up the current squad.
