Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has said he is waiting patiently to see what the future holds for him this summer. The Colombian international claims the Scottish club have received enquiries from teams in three different countries:
“Right now, my options are open, there are options for more leagues, so let’s hope that everything works out in the best way. There have been big teams from the big leagues enquiring about me – clubs from England, France and Spain.”
Morelos was also quick to praise manager Steven Gerrard who he says has always protected him from criticism. The Gers boss has been an influential figure for the 24-year-old who says the pair have a good working relationship:
“I have a very beautiful relationship with Steven Gerrard. He has always supported me through thick and thin, trusting me, always protecting me from the headlines. It’s very important to me that the manager has confidence in me. We are waiting to see what happens.”
Morelos also insisted he will be leaving through the “front door” if he leaves Ibrox, which suggests he won’t be looking to force through a move before the transfer window closes.
That is probably just as well as the club who have shown the most interest in the Colombian, Lille, have cooled their interest after signing Jonathan David from Gent for €25m.
The Ligue One side’s president Gerard Lopez did, though, confirm that they are still watching Morelos but “nothing is done” in terms of agreeing a transfer fee.
