Rangers and Celtic are among the clubs who are considering making a move for Rapid Vienna defensive midfielder Dejan Ljubicic, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old, who is also being pursued by Southampton and Brentford, will reportedly be available for £2m this summer with the player’s contract expiring at the end of next season.

Rangers have been linked with a couple of holding midfielders already this summer, in Bongani Zungu and Haris Belkebla, and it seems Ljubicic is another name who is being looked at.

The Mail claim that the Light Blues have “discussed” a potential offer for the Austrian Under 21 international, who has impressed observers with his positional awareness and distribution when in possession.

Ljubicic is also adaptable, having also played centre-back regularly since the Austrian Bundesliga restarted at the beginning of June. It will be interesting to see whether the Gers make a bid for the player in the coming weeks.
