Rangers are interested in CSKA Sofia defensive midfielder Kristiyan Malinov, according to reports in both the Bulgarian and Scottish media.

The 26-year-old, who has 13 senior caps for Bulgaria, has been in impressive form this season and it has led to scouts from a number of teams keeping tabs on his progress.

As well as the Light Blues, Belgian Pro League clubs Standard Liege and KV Mechelen, as well as Dutch Eredivisie sides Vitesse Arnhem and VVV Venlo, are all said to be tracking Malinov.

The Bulgarian international has spent his entire career in his homeland, having made the move to CSKA Sofia from Litex Lovetsch on a free transfer in summer of 2016.

Malinov is a holding midfield player and it is becoming a theme among the Gers’ transfer targets, with the likes of Rapid Vienna’s Dejan Ljubicic, Amiens’ Bongani Zungu and Brest’s Haris Belkebla all having been linked in recent weeks.
