Greuther Furth do have an option to buy Rangers striker Cedric Itten, the Bundesliga side have confirmed.

The Swiss international joined the German club on an initial season-long loan yesterday, and Itten has spoken out on why he decided to leave Ibrox before the transfer window closed:

“I believe that in Furth I will find exactly the conditions to develop myself as best as possible. With the impressions from the conversations and what I have already heard about Furth, it was my absolute wish to come to Furth.”

Itten could still return to Scotland as the Gers are said to have the option of recalling him in the January transfer window. That may only happen, though, if they suffer an injury crisis.

Manager Steven Gerrard already has the likes of Kemar Roofe, Alfredo Morelos, Fashion Sakala, and Jermain Defoe to call upon so Itten has been deemed surplus requirements.

Rangers could, however, make a small profit on the 24-year-old if Furth trigger their purchase clause. Reports in Germany claim the agreed transfer fee is €3.5m (£3m). That is slightly more than the £2.7m that the Light Blues paid St Gallen for Itten in August last year.
