Rangers captain James Tavernier will be the subject of a bid from West Ham before the transfer window shuts, according to TEAMtalk.

The website claims that the Hammers are “set to make an offer” for the defender with the English Premier League side looking for reinforcements in fullback areas.

Tavernier has been in great form, having scored six goals and contributed four assists in just 11 appearances for the Gers this campaign. However, the right-back does only have two years remaining on his contract at Ibrox.

Rangers are said to be preparing a new deal for the 28-year-old but they will not be able to match the salary that West Ham would be willing to pay.

Even so, Tavernier may well be keen on staying put and helping the Light Blues win league title number 55, rather than being involved in a potential relegation battle. With Steven Gerrard also said to be determined to keep him, it will be hoped that the fullback decides to continue his career in Scotland rather than returning south.
