Rangers are red-hot favourites to sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell on a free transfer next summer, according to reports in England.
The Light Blues were first linked with the 26-year-old earlier this month when it was claimed that the player could be sold in January before his contract expires at the end of the season.
It has since emerged that both Norwich City and Bournemouth are also interested in Rothwell, but the former Manchester United academy graduate looks very likely to end up at Ibrox next year.
The midfielder has been in good form in the English Championship this season, having scored one goal and provided four assists in only 12 appearances.
Manager Steven Gerrard appears to be keen to improve his midfield options with Ryan Jack having been limited to very few games over the past eighteen months due to both knee and calf problems.
There is optimism that the 29-year-old may return soon, with Gerrard having recently stated that he could be back in a couple of weeks, but we shall see if that does in fact happen.
