Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie is set to return to Livingston on a season-long loan deal, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The 22-year-old only signed a new three-year contract earlier this month but after the Light Blues signed Jon McLaughlin from Sunderland as backup to Allan McGregor, McCrorie’s loan departure was expected.

He spent the second half of last season with Livingston, impressing as he conceded nine goals and kept two clean sheets in eight appearances before the campaign was cut short due to the global health crisis.

With McGregor now 38 years of age, and his understudy McLaughlin turning 33 in September, McCrorie is seen as the Gers’ number one keeper for the long-term.

However, if he wants to become a regular first-team player at Ibrox, he will need to impress once more during his time at Livingston, giving manager Steven Gerrard a decision to make when he returns to the club next summer.
