Rangers are “more likely” to sign Bournemouth midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh this month than his teammate Jack Simpson, according to the Sunday Mail.

The Light Blues have reportedly already secured the pair on pre-contract agreements when their current deals expire this summer, but manager Steven Gerrard is keen to have both players join now, before the January transfer window closes.

Ofoborh could well be allowed to leave the Cherries as he has hardly featured for the English Championship club this season, and it is said he could be signed for around £300,000.

With Gerrard already satisfied with his depth at centre-back, there is far less urgency to bring in Simpson straight away, although the Mail claims the Gers may still make a move anyway.

The 24-year-old has been a long-term target for the club, having been identified by Gerrard when he first arrived at Ibrox in 2018, so if he joins this month or in the summer, he is surely going to have a big role to play in the future.
