Rangers are looking to beat the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United to the signing of Aberdeen youngster Lancelot Pollard, according to the Scottish Daily Express.

The teenager, who has yet to sign on to professional terms with the Dons, is a player that the Gers rate highly and they want to secure his services before other teams come in for him.

Liverpool are said to have an “active interest” in Pollard, while United have also been tracking his progress after he made his debut for Aberdeen’s Under 18s.

The Daily Express claim that Rangers are ready to pay a “six-figure” sum in order for a deal to be finalised quickly.

Considering that Pollard has yet to make his senior debut, that would be a sizeable fee to pay for an unproven young player, but it appears Director of Football Ross Wilson and his recruitment team are convinced that his potential merits the outlay.
