Rangers are poised to pull out of a move for Wigan Athletic forward Kyle Joseph, according to reports in the English media.

The Light Blues were pursuing the Scotland Under 19 international, along with the likes of Celtic, Newcastle, Tottenham and Arsenal, but it seems the decision has been made to withdraw from talks.

Joseph’s contract with the Latics expires in the summer but, due to the cross border rules, the Gers would only have to pay £300,000 for the teenager.

However, it appears the Scottish champions have opted against making an approach for the 19-year-old, who has scored five goals and provided one assist in 14 League One matches this campaign.

Whether it has been made known to Rangers that another club has already agreed a deal to sign Joseph, it remains to be seen, but the fact that he is available so cheaply means they may well miss out on a bargain.
