Rangers and Norwich City are both interested in signing Schalke goalkeeper Martin Fraisl, according to the Daily Mail.

The Austrian can be signed up on a pre-contract agreement now as his current deal with Schalke expires at the end of the campaign.

Fraisl only moved to Germany from Dutch club ADO Den Haag in the summer, but he was given a one-year contract at the time and could move on from the VELTINS-Arena after just one season.

The Gers’ current number one, Allan McGregor, has just turned 40 and there is some speculation that he may opt to hang up his gloves in the summer.

Were that to happen then Fraisl may come under consideration. The 28-year-old has been in good form for Schalke this campaign but there are doubts about whether he would be up to the task of playing for a club like Rangers.

The shot-stopper does lack experience of playing at the highest level, and that could count against him when Director of Football Ross Wilson is looking at potential successors for McGregor.
