Rangers and Arsenal have confirmed that a friendly will take place between the two clubs on July 17th to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Light Blues.

The announcement comes shortly after the Gunners thrashed Slavia Prague 4-0 in the Europa League quarter-finals. Prior to the game, their players took the knee to show their support for Glen Kamara, who had been subjected to racist abuse by one of the Czech club’s players in the previous round.

The show of support for the Rangers midfielder was gratefully appreciated by fans on Twitter and they believe the friendly fixture is an excellent idea, considering the good relationship between the two clubs:

The occasion will also mark the return of Mikel Arteta to Ibrox. The Spaniard spent two seasons with the Gers between 2002 and 2004, winning the Scottish Premier League, Scottish Cup and League Cup before returning to Spain with Real Sociedad.
