Lazio are prepared to pay as much as €13m (£11.2m) to sign Rangers attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi, according to reports.

It was only a couple of weeks ago when it was reported that the Serie A side were thinking about a €10m (£8.6m) offer but it appears they are looking to raise the stakes for the Romanian international.

The club’s sporting director Igli Tare is thought to be a big fan of Hagi and he has been tracking the 22-year-old for a number of years, so we shall see if an official bid is made over the coming weeks.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will be keen to keep hold of the player, who has scored seven goals and contributed 12 assists in 39 appearances this campaign.

However, €13m would be a lot of money to turn down, especially in the current financial climate, and it would be a big profit on the £3m that the Light Blues paid Racing Genk for the player last summer.
