The Old Firm derby has seen the most yellow and red cards out of all the high-profile derbies in the UK over the last decade, according to BettingExpert.com (via the Scottish Sun).

Clashes between Rangers and Celtic have led to 118 yellows and 18 reds since the beginning of the 2010/11 season.

The closest in comparison is the North London derby which had 615 fouls to the Old Firm’s 761. Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool is slightly tamer with 558, while the Manchester derby itself has had 540 fouls, including 101 bookings and three sending offs.

Surprisingly, though, the least fierce of all is the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton. Only 86 bookings and three red cards have been recorded in fixtures over the last ten years.

Of course, you do have to take into account that the Old Firm do play more matches against each other every season. Saying that, though, Rangers weren’t actually in the Scottish Premiership for four of the last ten years so perhaps these numbers balance out!
