Rangers are weighing up whether to make a move for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland, according to reports in the UK.
The 29-year-old, who has nine caps for England, is being considered as a potential replacement for Allan McGregor if the Gers’ current number one does decide to retire this summer.
Butland is Palace’s reserve keeper and Rangers supporters on Twitter are not too enthusiastic about the club recruiting the shot-stopper, with many feeling that Jon McLaughlin is more than capable of taking up the gloves:
Decent keeper but imo would buckle under the pressure up here. Similar to Theo snelders.

Don’t need a goal keeper.

McLaughlin is better.

Rather have that West Brom GK but heard Gio’s auld GK Bijlow (was 18 during Gio’s time at feyenoord) is on the cards too

No thanks, Mclaughlin has never let us down. Good at commanding the box. Would be my No. 1 choice for next season

He is a good keeper but spending money on a goalie is money wasted.
We have McLaughlin and McCrorie if McGregor retires.
Spending needs to be done in areas we aren’t as well covered.

It should be pointed out that Butland was once tipped to be England’s number one but a number of high-profile errors during his time at Stoke City put pay to those chances.
The keeper has struggled to recapture his early career form in recent years, but despite his fall from grace, it is believed that Rangers may still struggle to afford him, with a move dependent on their qualification for the Champions League group stages.
With other areas of the team in greater need of reinforcements, it will be hoped that the Light Blues decide to look elsewhere.
