West Ham are very interested in signing Stade de Reims forward Boulaye Dia and they could table an opening bid for the 24-year-old soon, according to inside source ExWHUemployee.
Other news outlets have also said that the Hammers have held talks with the Senegalese international’s agent, and it seems the Ligue One striker is quickly moving to the top of the club’s list of targets to replace Sebastien Haller.
Dia’s contract expires in 2022 and Reims are reportedly keen to offload him while they can still command a decent transfer fee. Fans on Twitter have been discussing whether West Ham should sign him now or wait until his value depreciates in the summer:
£13m and just get it done

Daka sounds like a better fit on paper. Was hoping we might have submitted a bid for him. But what do I know!

Why is it always soon, if we like him why not put an offer in now? Same with every player it’s always soon!

Almost hope he does want to wait till summer because his form could still level off and our view of him could change quite a bit if that were to happen.

The Senegalese striker has been in good form this season, having scored 12 goals in 17 league games. Last month, it was reported that the Irons were leading the race for the player and it seems they are now stepping up their interest.
Other Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle, West Brom and Sheffield United have also been linked with Dia but West Ham are believed to be the closest to making a formal offer.
