The agent of Sampdoria centre-back Omar Colley has confirmed there is interest in his client from English clubs. The Gambian international has been linked with West Ham, Newcastle, Southampton, Celtic and Rennes in recent weeks.
Asked about whether the player could potentially leave his current team before the transfer window closes, Cheikh Fall said that while teams from England have made enquiries, the defender could just as easily stay in Italy:
“It’s true, there have been enquiries by English teams but he is fine in Genoa. We are ready to evaluate proposals also because the Premier League is an important championship but there must be a leap in quality otherwise he will remain at Sampdoria.”
Sampdoria have reportedly slapped a €15m (£13m) price tag on Colley, but the Serie A club may well be open to selling him for less as they look to raise funds for new signings.
Hammers boss David Moyes is believed to have prioritised recruiting a new centre-half, but any deal will probably be dependent on player sales.
West Ham have reportedly accepted an £18m bid from West Brom for Grady Diangana, and if the deal goes through, some of that money could well be spent on Colley.
