The Brazilian has only scored one goal in 24 appearances this campaign and the midfielder says that while he was an unknown quantity during his first year, defenders have now begun to work him out. He says the mistake he made was failing to adapt:
“The first season, when you adapt to the team’s style, is easier. In the second, they start to know you more. I lacked a little creativity. My start was good, but then I got a little blocked.”
“It was a mistake not to change my style. The important thing is to learn. I started to feel better before the stop, things started to flow and I started to grow. The next season is going to be incredible.”
Anderson does sound optimistic that his form will now improve when the season resumes next month, and considering the situation the Hammers are in, supporters will be keeping their fingers crossed that is indeed the case.
The London club are currently only out of the relegation places on goal difference, with Aston Villa also having a game in hand over them.
If Anderson’s form does improve, though, it should help them move towards safety, especially with the likes of Jarrod Bowen having hit the ground running since arriving in January.
