BBC pundit Garth Crooks singled out West Ham defender Craig Dawson for praise after the defender got on the scoresheet in the Hammers’ 1-1 draw against Newcastle at the weekend.

The 31-year-old bagged a last-gasp equaliser versus Leicester in his previous match, and Crooks says the player is not only a very good centre-back but also a major threat when he goes up for corners:

“Craig Dawson has got the taste for goals in his veins again. He had it at West Brom, Watford and now West Ham. Dawson is a very dangerous opponent in the opposition’s penalty area but he’s also an excellent defender.”

Crooks was speaking about Dawson after naming him in his Premier League “Team of the Week”. No other Irons star managed to make it into the eleven this time, but he did include three Tottenham players (Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski) following their shock win against Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Liverpool duo Alisson Becker and Mo Salah, Manchester United pair Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka & Emile Smith Rowe, as well as Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger were also selected in Crooks’ team.
