Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger rejected a switch to West Ham before the transfer window closed, according to insider EXWHUemployee.

The Hammers were reportedly keen on taking the German international on loan for the rest of the season, but despite the defender not having a future at the Stamford Bridge, he opted against making the switch across London:

West Ham boss David Moyes has been determined to add a centre-back to his squad but attempts to sign the likes of Burnley’s James Tarkowski’s. Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic and Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car have all failed. It seems Rudiger is another name that can be added to that list.

Before the window shut, the priority signing was believed to be Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, with Torino’s Armando Izzo being seen as a backup option, but the Irons could not get deals over the line for either player.

With that being the case, West Ham may have to look at options in the Championship, with the domestic window closing on October 16th.
