Lyon are interested in signing West Ham defender Issa Diop, according to reports in the French media. The Ligue One side’s manager Rudi Garcia is said to be a fan of the 23-year-old’s abilities.
The centre-back has been on Manchester United and Tottenham’s radar in the past but Lyon are now said to be looking at the Frenchman as one of five possible options to strengthen their backline.
In addition to Diop, they are said to be keen on Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile, Hoffenheim’s Stefan Posch, Spartak Moscow’s Samuel Gigot and Galatasaray’s Marcao and it remains to be seen which player they will make a formal bid for.
Hammers boss David Moyes could do with more funds to spend on transfers, but the club have been trying to reinforce the defence rather than sell off their current centre-backs.
Bids have been made for Burnley’s James Tarkowski and Saint-Etienne’s Wesley Fofana but the London club have had their approaches knocked back.
