West Ham are among the teams keeping tabs on Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst, according to reports in the English media.

It follows on from claims in Italy last month that the Dutchman is a target for the Hammers, with it now being reported that Wolfsburg have an agreement in place with the Dutchman to sell him for around €30m (£26m).

Weghorst did score 25 goals last season, but there are supporters on Twitter who are still rather concerned about signing a player from Germany, following the experience they had with Sebastien Haller:

At 6ft 6, Weghorst is certainly a target man, but unlike Haller, he is known for his work rate and does get around the pitch. His goal record is also excellent, and he has attracted interest from the likes of Spurs and Newcastle as a result.

For £26m, the Netherlands international would also be cheaper than some of the Hammers’ other transfer targets such as Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, so we shall see whether a bid is lodged in the coming weeks.
