Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has admitted he has doubts over whether Dean Henderson kept the ball in play before he scored his equaliser against West Ham last night.

Henderson’s clearance looked to have gone out before the ball landed inside the touchline and Pogba then subsequently unleashed a piledriver from long range to get the Red Devils back level. The Frenchman was frank with his assessment after the game:

“The kick from Dean was a bit… we didn’t know if it was out or in but we just went for it. I just went for it, I saw Bruno had the ball and I was free. I hit one in the first half, it didn’t go well, but the second time it went in and I’m really happy with this.”

Hammers boss David Moyes was angry after VAR opted to stay with the onfield decision that the goal should stand. The equaliser proved to be the turning point in the game as United came from 1-0 down to secure a 3-1 victory.

Footage after the match clearly showed the ball out of play but that technology was not available to VAR at the time. It will be a bitter pill to swallow for Moyes and his team, and they will be determined to get back to winning ways when they face Leeds on Friday evening.
