West Ham right-back Vladimir Coufal has been handed a new three-year contract, keeping him at the London Stadium until 2024.

The Czech only joined from Slavia Prague last October but the 29-year-old played a key role in helping the Hammers qualify for Europe last season.

Coufal has been deservedly rewarded for his fine form and supporters on Twitter are very happy that the fullback has been recognised by the club for his efforts:

The fullback was a bargain at £5.4m and, along with his Czech international teammate Tomas Soucek, they have helped to transform the fortunes of the team under manager David Moyes.

Coufal is, though, a doubt for the match against Brentford today. The defender has been struggling with a groin problem, which kept him out of the squad for the 2-0 win over Rapid Vienna on Thursday night.

With Ryan Fredericks also sidelined, Ben Johnson will likely deputise if Coufal cannot prove his fitness in time for the game this afternoon.
