West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen‘s injury is worse than first feared and he could miss both legs of the Europa League quarter-final against Lyon next month, according to Roshane Thomas.

The Athletic‘s Hammers correspondent claims that the club have now discovered that the 25-year-old has fractured a bone in his foot, which could keep him out for a number of weeks. Unsurprisingly, fans on Twitter are not happy about the news:

While Bowen hasn’t been completely ruled out for the two games, the prospect of him being sidelined for the club’s two biggest matches of the season is now a realistic possibility.

It was reported that West Ham were hoping to have him back right after the international break but that looks very optimistic. The winger was injured in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on March 5th and, with the first leg against Lyon on April 7th, it seems unlikely he’ll make the game with it usually taking six weeks to recover from such fractures.
