West Ham have refused to meet Brentford’s £20m asking price for winger Said Benrahma, according to reports in the UK.

The Algerian international, who has been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal in recent months, originally had a valuation in the region of £30m but, despite the drop in asking price, the Hammers are unwilling to match the figure.

Grady Diangana’s prospective sale has angered players and fans alike, but it was thought that the winger’s move to West Brom would have freed up the funds necessary to bring in new signings before the transfer window shuts next month.

However, it appears that money will be put towards recruiting a new centre-half, with reports suggesting that West Ham have already tabled a £27m bid for Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski.

The England international is, though, unlikely to move to the London Stadium with the defender said to be very keen to stay in the north of England.
