West Ham look to be back in contention to sign Tammy Abraham with The Athletic claiming that Aston Villa are not interested in making a bid for the Chelsea striker.
The website’s Villa correspondent, Gregg Evans, who is very reliable when it comes to the Midlands club, claims the Villans won’t be considering a move for Abraham as they already have Ollie Watkins:
#AVFC transfers:
▪️ No.10 is a priority. Smith Rowe top choice
▪️ No rush on a striker. Abraham not on radar (for now)
▪️ Vassilev interest
▪️ T.Wright tracked by Salford and L.Orienthttps://t.co/laUkKLfm5H— Gregg Evans (@greggevans40) July 2, 2021
Although it is a big boost for the Hammers, it must be said that Abraham’s £40m price tag is still likely to prove a major stumbling block in the London side’s attempts to secure the 23-year-old’s services.
Chelsea do need to raise funds to finance moves for their own signings, specifically Erling Haaland, so you can’t rule out the Blues lowering their demands before the transfer window closes. It may simply be the case that West Ham will need to be patient to get a deal over the line for the England international
