West Ham are competing with the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle and Atletico Madrid for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Italian website claims that the Netherlands international could leave PSG just one season after joining the Ligue One giants on a free transfer from Liverpool.
Wijnaldum, who has also been linked with Arsenal in the English press, has not been a regular starter since moving to Paris and it is believed he is open to leaving the Parc des Princes.
With Wijnaldum now being 31 years of age, it would be a surprise if the Hammers do go after the Dutchman, considering manager David Moyes does prefer to sign younger players.
However, if Wijnaldum is available on loan or for a reduced price then it wouldn’t be much of a gamble to take on a midfielder, who has won both the Premier League and Champions League during his career.
