West Ham are set to battle Celtic and a number of other teams for Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo, according to reports in the UK.
The Hammers are keen on providing competition for Michail Antonio and they are said to be looking at the Championship star as a possible option.
Despite having just over a year left on his current at Ashton Gate, Bristol City are reportedly demanding around £15m, plus £5m in add-ons, for Semenyo’s services.
The 22-year-old is believed to be courting interest from clubs abroad as well, with Red Bull Salzburg having been linked in recent days, but the player has set his sights on playing in the Premier League. Speaking in a recent interview, he revealed how he is taken inspiration from the likes of ex-Chelsea forward Didier Drogba and Gunners legend Thierry Henry:
“In terms of my link-up play I loved watching Drogba. For running in behind Thierry Henry. They are the perfect examples of both. Drogba’s link-up play was unreal, and with Henry’s pace and power, he literally had everything. I try to model the two sides of my game around them.”
Semenyo has a long way to go to emulate those two players. For the Robins, the striker has scored six goals in 21 appearances this season.
