West Ham are interested in signing Chelsea forward Ike Ugbo on loan for the start of next season, according to TEAMtalk.

The website claims that there are at least a dozen teams after the 21-year-old, and the Hammers are one of the six they have confirmed as being in the race for the player, along with Watford, Crystal Palace, Derby, Nottingham Forest and West Brom.

Ugbo has not played for Chelsea’s senior team but he has had loan spells at MK Dons, Barnsley and Scunthorpe United over the past few years.

However, he is coming off the back of an impressive season in the Netherlands, where he scored 13 goals in 28 appearances for Roda JC in the Dutch second division.

Chelsea are reportedly open to another loan deal, although it remains to be seen whether Ugbo is a primary target for the Irons.

If David Moyes’ side were to be relegated, the England Under 20 international would likely be a priority, but they may go after more high profile names if they remain in the top flight.
