The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has confirmed that West Ham have agreed a £1m fee to loan Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard for the rest of the season.

The former BBC reporter did also say, however, that if the deal for the England international is completed, the Hammers may not make a move for another striker before the January transfer window closes:

It looks like Said Benrahma has already made his loan to West Ham permanent so it seems Lingard’s switch to the London Stadium is close to being made official.

The Irons are only able to have two domestic loans at the same time so Benrahma’s signing has freed up space for the United star to seal his move.

Even so, the news that the club are unlikely to make an offer to sign another player after Lingard will not go down well with fans, who will be asking where the money from Sebastien Haller’s sale has gone.
