West Ham, Tottenham and Chelsea are all ’emerging candidates’ in the race to sign Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez, according to Estadio Deportivo. The Spanish newspaper claims that the three English clubs are watching the former Real Betis player’s situation closely.

The 25-year-old only moved to Italy for €23.5m last July but the Giallorossi are struggling financially and need to sell players in order to finance moves for summer signings.

Lopez has had a decent season, conceding 35 goals and keeping five clean sheets in 25 league appearances for Roma, but it appears the Serie A club will let him leave if a team matches their €40m (£36m) valuation.

At that price, it would immediately rule out the Hammers who will need to free up funds to make any purchases when the transfer window opens.

Were a player like Declan Rice to be sold, it would allow manager David Moyes to reshape his squad but, unless that happens, a move for Lopez is highly unlikely.
